Go!Go!Go! ... new pop group for kids

THE song writers behind Kylie Minogue and Paul McCartney are set to take the kids’ music scene by storm with a ground-breaking new band.

Mike Stock and Steve Crosby have formed Go!Go!Go! in the mould of S-Club juniors to spark kids’ interest in music.

The new group – with members Holly, Steve, Gemma, Carl and Jade – will be hosted as a new show on kids’ TV channel Nick Jnr and are headlining children's festival Lollibop.

A recent survey showed just 24 per cent of parents sing with their children while only 20 per cent dance with their kids – yet 38 per cent they watch TV together.

And Stock, recognised as the UK’s most successful song writer and producer in the Guinness book of records, hopes his new group can help change that.

He said: “This survey shows we must find more time to sing and dance with our children. Not only does it improve bonding in the family but it really helps a child’s development.

“That’s why we launched The Go!Go!Go! Show to encourage more children to embrace music and dance.”

Stock has written a number of hits for singing stars such as Kylie Minogue, Donna Summer, Sir Paul McCartney and Rick Astley.

While Crosby was behind the success of pop group Steps and along with Stock has jointly launched The Show 4 Kids company which is behind the Go!Go!Go show.

The new group hopes to get parents and children singing again which has been shown to help speech development, coordination and emotional well-being.

Professor Patricia Riddell, an expert in Neuroscience from the University of Reading, said parents are missing out on opportunities to aid their children's development.

She said: “Even before six months of age, infants prefer to listen to happy rather than sad music.

“And playing with children, including singing and dancing, has been shown both to increase brain connectivity and benefit child-parent interactions in toddlers.”
