Nickelodeon Orders "Rusty Rivets" Season Two

Spin Master recently announced the exciting news during the leading global children's entertainment company's 2016 Q4 Financial Results Conference Call that, following strong ratings, Nickelodeon has commissioned a second season of the networks popular animated preschool series Rusty Rivets!

Currently in production, Rusty Rivets season two promises to be bigger and better than the first season, with lots of stuff for kids to look forward to! Season two of Rusty Rivets will be very heavily based on different characters, such as the Elephantbot, Gorillabot and Tigerbot.

During Spin Master's 2016 Q4 Financial Results Conference Call, Ronnen Harary, the Co-Chief Executive Officer of Spin Master Corp., also revealed that, although Rusty Rivets is a hit with kids, the show is doing even better with boys than girls:

"Brian Morrison (TD Securities - Analyst): [...] there was a comment with the initial reception to Rusty Rivets was strong. What does that mean? How do you measure that? And then just in terms of the pipeline, can you talk about your timing with new properties, such as Bakugan?"

"Ronnen Harary: Yeah. It was great. I love getting one question a session. No, the comment about Rusty Rivets, I mean we go straight to the ratings and Nickelodeon shares with us weekly how the product and how the show is rating. And that’s what we’re looking for.

It’s doing very well overall with kids, and it’s doing even better with boys. It’s skewing more boy than girl. And we look at things like how it does after the lead-in show and the lead-out show. So we’re looking at those types of metrics.

And Nickelodeon has commissioned a season two, so we’re in production of season two, which we’re really excited about. So that’s a good indicator to us that there’s strong commitment to Rusty Rivets and building Rusty Rivets. There’s strong demand from a retaile perspective in terms of support.

So we look to both retail and to ratings and to Nickelodeon for their commitment to producing a second season. And we’re very excited about the second season. It’s going to be even better than season one. I’m personally working on it with the team, and it’s very heavily based on different characters. There’s a lot of—there’s Elephantbot and Gorillabot and Tigerbot; lots of stuff for kids to look forward to.

And the amazing thing about Rusty Rivets is that it truly is the construction—I wouldn’t say construction system. We call it the rustification system that we’ve built. It’s one point. It’s one actual insert that kids can actually put in to create different—basically to rustify their characters. And so it’s really creative. It’s really easy. I like it because I wasn’t a LEGO kid. I couldn’t put together LEGO. So it’s really nice and simple. And I think it really opens up imagination for kids."

Additionally, Ben Gadbois, Global President and Chief Operating Officer, Spin Master Corp., announced the further exciting news that Spin Master will launch a Rusty Rivets toy line on a limited basis late in 2017, followed by a full global toy launch in 2018!

Separately, Gadbois also revealed the PAWsome news that Spin Master will be launching PAW Patrol in Asia for the first time later in 2017!

Created and produced by Spin Master Entertainment (PAW Patrol), the show follows Rusty, a 21st century kid hero who always saves the day by relying on his imagination and incredible resourcefulness. Inspired by the DIY culture of the maker movement, Rusty Rivets helps preschoolers gain confidence and fuel their creativity with a strong focus on inventing, creating and problem solving.

In Rusty Rivets, 10-year-old Rusty, along with his best bud Ruby, invents his way out of every jam by repurposing spare parts and found objects into the wildest, coolest, most awesome contraptions ever. The series encourages kids to use their imaginations to design and create fun new gadgets and inventions.

Rusty Rivets is the sixth series from Spin Master Entertainment and follows on the success of PAW Patrol and Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The new series is overseen by executive producers Ronnen Harary and Laura Clunie.

Rusty Rivets debuted on Nickelodeon USA in November 2016, and is currently rolling out on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. channels worldwide.
